Tinney's Irish Shop Philosophy

  • Tinney's Irish Shop - Customer Interaction
  • Criteria for Product Choice
  • Peace and Reconciliation

Tinney's Irish Shop and Customer Interaction.
Tinney's Irish Shop is intent on building an attractive platform for interaction. Part of this interaction is buying and selling, but we realise that there are richer depths to this interaction. We understand that customers need more detailed information about products and producers. We realise through this that you the customer want to be more involved. So we provide where possible information about producers, especially if they are small craft producers, the area they come from and the ideas that lie behind their crafted product. This is the key idea in the whole Crafts concept of Tinney's Irish Shop.

Criteria for Product Choice
Because Tinney's Irish Shop is a platform primarily for Irish Craft Producers and Irish Products, we seek where possible to source our products in Ireland. In this global age this however is not always possible where non-irish producers and products are chosen, they must complement the Irish dimension of our collection. Think of it in this way, just as there are non-Irish drinks in an Irish Pub it is still an Irish pub.It should still reflect something of the Irish spirit. Our criterion for choice therefore are for products which are affordable but of reflecting highest quality, creativity and design.
We wish to present our products in a creative but not gaudy manner, so you won't find advertising banners flashing at you all over our site. You will find instead a carefully selected range of Irish Knitwear, Aran Sweaters, Irish Traditional Folk Music CDs, Celtic Jewellery, Donegal Tweed amongst other things. We seek to represent Ireland on a cultural level, beyond borders and religious divisions.

Peace and Reconciliation
We at Tinney’s Irish Shop seek Peace and Reconciliation in Ireland. I, Joseph, grew up in the troubles. I knew people who lost their lives. I know that dialogue is essential to understanding and forgiveness and reconciliation. I believe this process is an on-going process and may take generations to accomplish. But it will always be worth it!
